Our story

Welcomenest began in a small Melbourne studio with a single question — what would it take to make a child's first backpack feel considered, lasting, and unmistakably theirs?

The answer was slower than the industry standard, and more careful. Print felt impermanent. Mass production felt anonymous. We chose hand-embroidery instead — every name stitched by a maker, not pressed by a machine — because a piece carried through years of childhood deserves the kind of finish that holds.

Made in Melbourne, made to order

Every Welcomenest piece is made to order in our Melbourne studio. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting for a name. When an order arrives, the thread is chosen, the script is set, and the piece moves through our makers' hands within five to seven days — from order to door.

This is the slower way. It also means no two pieces are identical, no surplus stock is wasted, and every backpack, bib, or library bag leaves the studio with a single child's name on it.

Designed for every stage of childhood

Welcomenest is stage-led. The range follows a child from newborn to primary school — soft organic terry for the early months, double-gauze muslin for sleep, canvas backpacks and library bags for kinder and the first school years, plush keepsakes for the in-between moments.

Each stage is designed for the way children actually live at that age. A newborn bib sits differently to a toddler one. A kinder backpack carries differently to a primary one. We design accordingly — material by material, season by season — so the piece you choose is right for the child now, and built to hold up to who they're becoming.

The brief, the way we hold it

Personalised children's pieces, made in Melbourne, for every stage of childhood. Warm. Premium. Editorial. Held to a higher standard than the category usually allows — because the children carrying them deserve it.
